    The aim of the course is to guide the student in an interdisciplinary perspective, within the methodology of social research for criminological investigation and security, through a compendium of legal-forensic, criminal and investigative psychology, an introduction to the methodology and techniques in social research by the eminent scholar Piergiorgio Corbetta, and the illuminating text by James Hillman who proposes among the many theories that of the bad seed.

Compendium of legal-forensic, criminal and investigative psychology.
Social research: methodology and techniques. The reference paradigms. Through the first volume of Piergiorgio Corbetta's work, the concepts of methodology, methods and techniques and specific operating procedures will be addressed. The specificities of the main paradigms of social research will be explored with the help of empirical research.

Legal psychology: an interface between law and psychology, The legal system, the error of fact and the error of law, law and civil procedure, the contentious civil process, elements of psychology for jurists, epistemology: common sense in the administration of justice, truth and law, deviance, adult criminality, introductory aspects of male and female criminality, delinquency. Psychology and the criminal process, the simulation of mental illness, the personality of the accused in the matter of precautionary measures, evidence in the trial, procedural evidence and judicial reasoning. Cross-examination. The penalty and its execution. Psychology in the civil field. Forensic psychology of the family, industrial, commercial and labor law, juvenile forensic psychology, psychotherapeutic law. Legal psychosexology. The victim, investigative victimology, experts and appraisals. Methodologies for legal psychology, psycholegal ethics and legislative psychology.,
Social research: methodology and techniques. The paradigms of reference. The paradigms of social research: Kuhn and the paradigms of science - Three fundamental questions - Positivism - Neopositivism - Postpositivism - Interpretativism - Radicalizations and criticisms.
Quantitative research and qualitative research. Neopositivist paradigm: Crime in the Making by Sampson and Laub. Interpretative paradigm: Island in the Street, by Jankowski. Quantitative research and qualitative research compared. Two different ways of knowing social reality.
With the work The code of the soul: Character, vocation, destiny by James Hillman, concepts and theories that concern the origin of evil will be addressed, but also the potential that makes man creative and unique in his ability to be and achieve. Hillman mainly deals with The Acorn Theory and the Redemption of Psychology, Compensation Theory and Motivation Theory, Growing Up and Descent, Parental Superstition, Mothers, Deconstructing Parents, Absent Father, Ancestors, Intuition, Individuality, Love, Environment, Parental Fantasies, Destiny, Fatalism, Bad Seed Theory, Mediocrity and Character.
